Bachelor of Science in Midwifery (BSM) at Brokenshire College SOCSKSARGEN, Inc. prepares students for professional midwifery practice.

The department is primarily committed to producing highly skilled and competent midwives who are equipped to provide quality maternal and child healthcare, conduct research, and contribute to the improvement of maternal and child health outcomes.

Core Functions of the Department of Midwifery

  • Develop and implement undergraduate midwifery programs aligned with CMO 3 series of 2023 of national and international standards.
  • Admit, nurture, equip, and support midwifery students throughout their academic journey.
  • Provide theoretical and clinical instruction through lectures, laboratory sessions, and clinical practicum.
  • Facilitate student learning through simulation, case studies, and problem-based learning.
  • Evaluate student performance and provide timely feedback.
  • Assist students in securing clinical placements and preceptorships.
  • Guide students in the development of their professional identity and competencies.
  • Conduct research to advance midwifery knowledge and practice.
  • Collaborate with other departments and institutions on research projects.
  • Disseminate research findings through publications and presentations.
  • Support faculty and students in research endeavors.
  • Provide maternal and child health services to the community.
  • Participate in community outreach programs and health education campaigns.
  • Collaborate with local healthcare providers and organizations.
  • Address maternal and child health issues through advocacy and policy development.
  • Support faculty in their professional development through continuing education, research, and scholarship.
